Each week a different idea is presented of how the church can better serve our community.  These are just ideas.  They vary in the number of participants necessary and how much personal contact is required.  If an idea strikes your fancy, please feel free to implement it, or offer your opinion to the pastor.  We love to hear, "That was a great idea!  I think we should do it!"  We'll try anything at least once if someone is interested.  That's a promise!

Bottled Water Boost

Set aside an extra case of bottled water next time you get some.  Stay alert for an event on a hot day or an area where people tend to gather.  Then give everyone you can a boost with a cold bottle of water.  Sure to be appreciated and a simple way to do a small thing with great love!

Business Blast

Gather with some friends or your Sunday School class.  Get some hard candies, bags of M&M's, or other small treats.  Grab a few connection cards and then hit the streets.  Slip in the door of neighborhood businesses and let them know they're loved and appreciated.  Sure to be a big hit and an unexpected surprise - anytime!

Free Ice Cream

We could have free ice cream coupons for people to redeem at area shops - Dick's Pharmacy, Aunt Sarah's, etc. - and give them away on hot days or at special summer time events.  All that would be necessary is a "cone card" and a connection card to go with it.  What a great way to show people that God loves them - no strings attached!

Funeral Dinners for the Congregationally Un-attached

The church could serve funeral dinners for grieving people in our community who don't have a particular church affiliation.  Schrader's would be the contact for the family and we'd just provide the meal.  Participation would be on a rotating basis for cooks and hosts.  Advance notice would be a must to assure adequate time for food provision from working folks.

Grocery Giveaway

The church would provide shopping bags with a list of non-perishable items attached to it.  People can take the bags at their leisure and buy the items on the list, returning the bag with the items in it to the church.  A gift of $5.00 is necessary for a gallon of milk and half gallon of juice to be delivered with the food.  These items would be purchased at the time of the giveaway.  Bags could be given to apartment dwellers and other less affluent homes in Arthur.  The point would be not just to give food to those who have none, but to reach the "working poor" - those whose paycheck barely reaches from pay period to pay period.  They need help too and are not often thought of.

Pop Drop

Have some extra 12 packs of canned soda sitting around?  Maybe there's a pop in your basement or pantry that only gets consumed when Uncle Fred visits.  Why not chill it in the refrigerator and take it up to the Gazebo or new parking lot downtown?  Those are two areas where our young people tend to congregate almost every night of the week.  Not everyone is hanging out at the new youth center, nor is it open all the time.  What better way to connect with kids?  Cold soda and some connection cards!
